Friends Who Lay Golden Eggs...

If you want to get rid of a friend, lend him some money. That is the best way to ruin any relationship you may have. People have needs and problems all the time and when their 'friends' step in to play hero, it's usually the friend that gets burned. Is it really worth the hassle? You don't have to play savior to your cherished ones. Being there is often better than throwing money at another persons problem.

So many people value their relationships on what the other person would do for them, especially in crisis. Instead of doing favors out the kindness of heart, people play bailsman, lend their friend the money and then hassle that person until they repay. If you can not afford to give money away, why lend it? I have ruined friendships first hand by lending out money and not getting it back when I wanted it. One day I woke up and realized I am not a bank and money lending should not be intertwined within my most important relationships.

It's seems that when you give a friend money, you are putting your friendship on the line. Instead of feeling like, "I can't wait to spend time with this friend', it becomes "when is this friend going to give me back my money." People tend to put so much value on cash. Guess what, the very dollars being fought for are 'technically' not even worth it's dollar value.

Money is essentially just cotton laced paper. Money has no real value except for the value people give it as consumers. The federal bank can print as much money as they want; a result would be inflation of the dollar. The point I'm trying to make is this, with money not even being worth it's true dollar value, why waste good friendships by becoming a loan shark. When it comes to loved ones, its better to give money and never to loan.

There is one plus to giving money to friends, you get to learn which are the users and who values your 'support'. When a person does try to get the money back through small claims court, he can officially kiss that friend goodbye. Both friends will become enemies in the court. Maybe they are better off, who knows, but it's also important to cherish the people in your life.

There are absolutely no material possessions that can out value true love and unconditional support. Say no to the power of the dollar and yes to the true value of life: Love.
