This big old earth is levitating in the universe ready to be explored. So, why am I still here? Like many other people, I have spent majority of my life in or near my hometown. Even being across the river from one of the worlds most famous cities, New York City, One can still have a wandering heart. It is true, you can find almost anything at anytime, right here in NYC, so why bother with any place else? London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Los Angeles and even Miami don't compare to NYC. Foreigners from all over the globe trek to New York City each year. Many aspiring performing artists set up nest, to be closer to achieving their dreams.
With all the glitz and glamour NYC has to offer, one can still want to be 'free'. The United States of America is know for it's undeniable beauty and many men and women travel it each day. With so much to see, why stay barefooted in one place. Just like the main character in movie "Up in the Air", George Clooney's character 'lived' to travel, the audience could sum up that this man naturally loved to be in a new place every day.
Thousands of young men and women join the military each year. Some join for direction and discipline and many others join to have an adventure of life. While these young men and women travel and explore, many others feel that it is a 'normal' life to stay in one place and raise kids. Many TV shows and magazines protest people who live outside of the 'norm' and so many people are conditioned to become stationary.
Many professions such as a Pilot, Flight Attendant, Journalist, Insurance Salesman, Photographer, Over-The-Road Truck driver and performing artists spend their careers on the road. When on the road, these professionals meet people from all over and all walks of life. This type of life has to be rewarding to some extent. There is something to be learned from having to live as a jet-setter of some kind.
Doing the same thing day in and day out is great for the masses, but then there are those few individuals who want to explore. Many people don't understand why but the people who decide to follow such paths may feel bored with repetition. That may be a driving factor in their career choice, but the decision to do so is on that person. No one else will feel the isolation or loneliness that some of these people feel. That is the risk they are willing to take with such careers.
When it comes to these distant explorers, each morning they wake up and say "destination anywhere", and you know what, that's cool.
